Welcome to the Healing Room—a portal to peace and
balanced energy for furkids and their humans~
Stress. It disguises itself as a friend that we actually
invite into our lives. Predictable, dependable, it shows
up on our doorsteps whenever we procrastinate, over-
schedule, overspend, overeat, over-medicate, and even
over-connect (think social media). Some of us even claim
to live well with stress, saying that we do our best work
under duress. Of course this is a myth and we know it.
If you think of stress as a primitive survival mechanism
wired into our brains, you’ll understand that while there
may be moments when activating the “fight or flight”
response can still be useful to us in the 21st century (say,
responding to an emergency) more often than not, it's
difficult to find that off-switch in our day-to-day
living.
But there are consequences to living with stress. We
know them well because they define our lives.
Everything from headaches to heart attacks to mood
disorder to car accidents—we understand this, we accept
this. And then one day, as if life is mocking us, the
family dog or cat has “behavior issues.” OK, so we’re
stressed, but our yellow lab? Our precious kitty? Yes.
In the wild, canines and felines naturally rid themselves
of the stress which helps them survive, and they live
peacefully in a social order within their own packs.
Fast forward to the present where we have the joy of
sharing our lives with domesticated cats and dogs. But
we may not realize how our furry family members are
taking on our stress, with no opportunities to naturally
release it as their ancestors did. Hence the “behavior
issues.”

Reiki is a holistic ancient Japanese method of stress reduction which
involves the gentle flow of healing energy from the hands of
practitioner to the client. Reiki is part of an exciting movement
within the modern healthcare field, where hospitals are offering it in
conjunction with traditional Western medicine to improve healing
time, pain control, and overall spiritual and emotional wellbeing of
patients.
Furkids is proud to offer Reiki services for pets and people. Reiki
sessions may be done in your home or from a distance by appointment
only. Distance Reiki will be done by a single certified Reiki Master
Practitioner. In-home Reiki will be done by a team of 2 certified Reiki
practitioners.
